This wonderful
Poole shape 288 jam pot base dates from the Carter Stabler & Adams period,
it was made in about 1930 and is decorated in the pretty OX pattern
The red clay
body indicates it was made no later than 1934, the factory backstamp on the
base was the one in use from 1924 to 1950 and the paintress mark is that of
Marjorie Cryer (Evans) who was with the pottery from 1927 to 1940
It is
2.75" (7cm) tall, 3.5" (9cm) diameter at the widest point and the rim
is 2.75" (7cm) diameter
There is the
usual light crazing that is very common with pieces of this age but it is only
visible under close inspection, there is also a blue smudge to the decoration
near the rim that you can see in the third picture - otherwise it is in
excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration
A very nice
piece worth a lot more with a lid, it is a very attractive display item in its
own right that will make a fine addition to your collection or a lovely gift
