This Poole Pottery shape 345 red bodied vase dates from the beginning part of the Carter Stabler Adams Transitional period and is decorated in the CC pattern, one of the first few geometric designs developed by James Radley Young and Truda Adams in the very early 1920’s

It is difficult to see which of the impressed factory backstamps has been used as the detail is obscured by glaze but it is mark number 11, in use from 1921 to 1934 and the paintress mark is the one used from 1922 to 1937 by Ruth Pavely who was head of painting and with the pottery for 43 years in all from 1922 to 1965

The vase is 4.75" (12cm) high, 4.75” (11cm) diameter at the widest point and the rim is 3.25" (8cm) diameter

There is a chip on the base and a little glaze pinhole near the bottom both of which can be seen in the pictures but they are not particularly noticeable when the vase is standing upright – otherwise, this near 100 year old vase is in excellent condition with no other damage

Pieces from this period are seldom seen on the market and it would be worth a great deal more without the chip on the base so I have it on sale at a much reduced price – a rare piece that will make a fine addition to your collection
