POOLE POTTERY STUDIO 10.75" SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH PLATE

This lovely Poole Pottery flat bottomed plaque or charger is 10.75" (27cm) diameter and features a rather abstract study of what looks to be a Siamese Fighting Fish, the mottled green background being in a similar glaze to the Sally Tuffin designs of the mid 90's and the fish itself and the swirly plant type shapes being in a high gloss living glaze
Unusually, this piece has no factory marks but I'm sure it is from the Poole factory, the body itself being one of their standard shapes and it came from the specialist Poole Pottery auction at Cottees in Wareham and I think it is probably a trial piece that was not put into production
There are a few decorative imperfections but otherwise it is in good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing
Whatever the provenance, I think this is a very attractive piece that is almost certainly unique and will make a fine addition to your collection

This lovely Poole Pottery Dagger Tray was designed by Robert Jefferson in 1964

Dagger trays were normally decorated in olive green or in dark blue with bright green highlights. This aquamarine colourway, which I think is called Cameo Celeste, is very seldom seen in these pieces

It is 13" (33cm) long and 2.75" (7cm) wide at the hilt

There is a tiny fleabite on a corner of the hilt that is so small that you might not notice and I only mention it as a matter of accuracy, otherwise it is in very good condition with no other chips, cracks, crazing or restoration

Worth a lot more in perfect condition, I am offering this lovely piece at a low price due to the little chip on the hilt so it will make a fine addition to your collection or a super gift

This unusual Poole Delphis shape 91 dish definately features a smiley face in the design and is 12.25" (31cm) x 8" (20cm)

I'm pretty sure this dish dates from the early days of Delphis in the 1960's when the very pale blue colour and the sought after orange peel glaze were still part of the Delphis palette

It has all the usual factory marks including the dolphin logo mark number 47 that was in use from 1966 to 1980 but I can't identify the decorator's mark which is a row of three large dots

It is in great condition with no chips, cracks or scratches although there are a couple of light brown stains on the back and will make a fine addition to your collection or a super gift.

POOLE POTTERY CARVED DELPHIS SHAPE 79 PLANTER OR POT

This lovely Poole shape 79 planter is 5.5" (14cm) high & 5.5" (14cm) diameter
This planter has clearly housed a plant or two over the years as the white glazed interior is crazed but the outside is in excellent condition. Perhaps you can see from the picture, the glaze on the outside gradually changes from a glossy blue & green on the smooth lower part of the pot to a rich matt, almost metallic bronze as it climbs the heavily carved upper part
No damage at all other than the crazing, the very unusual colourway and multi-textured finish will make this planter a fine addition to your collection.

Poole Pottery have been responsible for some wonderful shapes and designs over the years and this imposing vibrant hand thrown Delphis bowl is a very sizeable 8.5" (21cm) diameter and 3.25" (8.5cm) high

This super Poole hand thrown and decorated shape 922 planter is decorated in the very pretty Truda Carter designed LL pattern and has that nice pale pink inner glaze they used during the period it was made

I'm not 100% sure of the identity or the paintress but the mark may be that of Joan Shorto who was with the pottery from 1949 to 1953
It is a nice size, 4.5" (11cm) high, the rim has an internal diameter of 4.25" (10.75cm) and at the widest point it is 6.25" (15.5cm) diameter
As with most pieces, it has a couple of minor glaze faults. You can probably see the one at the back of the inside near the top in the picture. The paintress has also put a dot of pink paint over a small blemish near the base but otherwise it is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration.

POOLE POTTERY PC PATTERN EXTRA LARGE 9" DIAMETER POSY RING

This is quite a rare extra large sized Poole posy ring, decorated in the very pretty PC pattern and the factory backstamp dates it to being made in the period 1959 to 1967

It is a very impressive 9" (22.5cm) diameter, 2.75" (7cm) high and the decorator was Sue Pottinger, one of the best paintresses of the modern era and with the pottery for many years

There is a minor manufacturing fault to the foot but it is otherwise in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing

POOLE POTTERY TRADITIONAL 223 SHAPE BOWL PC PATTERN

From the lovely Poole traditional range comes this lovely little shape 223 bowl decorated in the PC pattern. Not sure of age exactly but would hazard a guess anywhere from the 1930's to the 1950's and there is no paintresses mark. This lovely little bowl is 3.75" (9.5cm) diameter and sadly has a graze to the glaze on the rim as you can see in the photo. Otherwise it is in very good condition with just some light crazing.

POOLE POTTERY 1950's RD PATTERN 998 SHAPE CHEESE DISH

This lovely 998 shape cheese dish is decorated in the pretty RD pattern. I believe it was made in the early 1950's. This shape was introduced in the 1930's and was in production for many years and the factory marks include the impressed Poole stamp in constant use from 1930. The paintress mark on the base is that of Margaret West who worked at Poole from 1951 to 1954. The lid was decorated by someone else but I can't identify the paintress mark.
This cheese dish is marked as being of the RD pattern on the lid and PC pattern on the base but both designs used the same colour base so it is not at all surprising that these two found themselves together. The base is 4.75" (12cm) x 6" (15cm) and overall it is 3.5" (9cm) high.
This set has some minor glaze flaws so common at the time and there is a little bit of wear to the base where the lid has rubbed it over the years. The bottom edge of the lid is stained but that could probably be remedied with some bleach. Otherwise it is in excellent undamaged condition with no crazing and will make a fine addition to your collection or super gift.

POOLE POTTERY ELABORATE TV PATTERN 246 TRUMPET VASE

This super Poole shape 246 trumpet vase is decorated in the very pretty elaborate TV pattern and has that nice pale pink inner glaze they used during the period it was made

It has the factory backstamp in use during the 1950's and the paintresses mark is probably that of Josephine Smith who was with the pottery from 1955 to 1962

It is a nice size, 8.25" (20.5cm) high and the rim is 4.75" (12cm) diameter

It is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing

POOLE POTTERY XA PATTERN LARGE PEANUT SHAPED LAMP BASE

This wonderful large sized Poole peanut shape lamp base is decorated in a pattern I haven't seen before

The factory marks include X/XA which would indicate it is in the XA pattern and was probably decorated by Gwen Haskins, head paintress for many years and with the pottery from 1938 to 1977

It is a nice big hand thrown grey bodied piece, 15" (38cm) high to the top of the light fitting and 5.25" (13cm) diameter at the widest point

There is a minor fault with the decoration, the black paint of one of the 6 shaped parts of the pattern is smudged a bit as shown in my third picture and it needs to be fitted with a new flex but otherwise it is in excellent undamaged condition with no chips, cracks or crazing

POOLE POTTERY TWINTONE SERIES PINK TEAPOT STAND COASTER

I'm not sure if this is actually a teapot stand or a coaster, but it is 4.5" (11cm) diameter and has the Poole factory mark used from 1952 to 1955
The light today is a bit strange so I think the colour in the photo might be misleading, it is salmon pink in colour
