This stunning
red bodied Poole vase dates from the Carter, Stabler & Adams period and is
decorated in the pretty Truda Adams designed EN pattern
The red clay
body indicates it was made no later than 1934, the backstamp dates it in the
period 1924 to 1950 and it was decorated by Marjorie Batt (Hayward) who was
with the pottery from 1925 to 1935, then again for a short period in 1946, so
it was probably made in about 1930
It is
5.25" (13cm) tall, 4.5" (11cm) diameter at the widest point and the
rim is 3.25" (8cm) diameter
Sadly it has a
2" (5cm) long hairline crack running down from the rim - there are also
some minor glazing imperfections and light crazing, neither of which are
unusual in pieces from this period, otherwise it is in good condition with no
chips or restoration
A beautiful
vase in a very sought after pattern that would be worth a great deal more
without the crack, it will make a fine addition to your collection or a lovely
gift
